Mercy Ministry Opportunities
Emmanuel’s Mercy Ministry focuses on serving our neighbors in Arlington through a variety of service opportunities. Our Mercy Ministry work is dedicated to loving our neighbors as ourselves. Through Mercy Ministry, God's grace and mercy are powerfully demonstrated as His people serve others who are in need in a variety of ways throughout Arlington. Our ministry is focused on serving the needs of the community we live in and being followers of Christ.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunity at Sullivan House – Arlington Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless (AACH)
- English Language Partners/ESL Tutors to meet every other week with Sullivan House residents
- Babysitters for Monday/Wednesday nights 7-8:30 so parents can attend various classes
- Teach a class or seminar for the residents. Topics can be on almost anything such as cooking, parenting, budgeting, nutrition, preparing a resume/cover letter.
- Client Companionship Program - Help a family/individual as they transition out of the shelter to permanent housing. Help them acquire furniture, decorate their place, move in, etc.

Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)
- Individuals willing to drop off items collected during our 4th Mercy Sunday to AFAC's food center in South Arlington
- 5th Monday food bagging at AFAC

Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN)
- Client Companionship Program - Help a family/individual as they transition out of the shelter to permanent housing. Help them acquire furniture, decorate their place, move in, etc.
- Volunteer at the winter shelter
- Help prepare and distribute bagged meals for the homeless
- Donate shoes (especially large sized men shoes)

Borromeo Housing
- Babysit on Mondays from 6:30pm-8:30pm so that the mothers can attend their enrichment seminars.
- Donate baby supplies
- Teach a class or seminar for the residents. Topics can be on almost anything such as cooking, parenting, budgeting, nutrition, preparing a resume/cover letter.
- Set up a playgroup at a park on Saturdays for you and the residents to interact. They encourage men to come out to the playgroups also.
- Help with yard work around the house.
- Help with their homework.
- Contribute to the Tuition Assistance Fund that Borromeo has for mothers who are having a hard time paying their school expenses.

Street Soccer Arlington (A-SPAN)
